Thoughts

Jutta and I met in April 1957 when we went by tram to our new commercial school. I was in the tram and at Schenkendorfstrasse stop Jutta got on. At the school,we both left the tram and discovered we were going to the same school. We were in the same class and left together in the afternoon. From this first day, we spent time together, at school and at leisure. We learned to dance and went on holidays to Sylt, Austria, Bavaria and Hesse. Jutta later went to Jugoslavia with her mother and met Brian again which resulted in a move to Norwich to get married. We visited England on two occasions, once to St Faiths and also Bowthorpe and after Jutta's mother died in 1981, Jutta & Brian stayed with us in Harburg on several occasions. However, Jutta kept in touch by long letters from England. Unfortunately, a few years ago, the letters stopped but we spoke on the phone, in German, of course, but Jutta was still able to translate to Brian - a capability much admired. We last spoke to Jutta a few days before she went into the Gorleston Care Home. Jurgen & I will not forget her!

Jutta was renowned for her superb memory. It was therefor so unfair that Alzheimer's should gradually rob her of this ability. My memory, though not as good as hers, will not forget her.

We passed some pleasant hours together watching the dogs play in Earlham Park, enjoying the sun in the walled garden, watching the tots play in the soft play area and, of course, watching Brian's fine pickle ball skills. When I got to know Jutta, she was already muddled, but she was always gracious and good hearted.
